At its core, a Class H power amplifier is an electronic circuit that increases the magnitude of a given input signal by increasing its power. This is accomplished by taking the output of the amplifier, which is known as the speaker level, and boosting it to a higher level.

Then in audio magazines, I read that class-H amplifiers delivered a two-step power-supply rail voltage, that unlike class-G output stages, which delivered an expanding, linear rail voltage only a few volts higher than the output voltage, the class-H amplifier output stage switched between a low idle voltage and a high maximum-output voltage, say between +/-20Vdc and +/-40Vdc.

The Class H amplifier had an efficiency above the Class AB amplifier by 5-7% from 5-30mW of output power without affecting the total harmonic distortion (THD) at the design specifications. The Class H amplifier design met all design specifications and showed performance comparable to the designed Class AB amplifier across 1kHz-20kHz and .01mW-30mW.

Class C amplifier is tuned amplifier which works in two different operating modes, tuned or untuned. The efficiency of Class C amplifier is much more than the A, B, and AB. Maximum 80% efficiency can be achieved in radio frequency related operations. Class C amplifier uses less than 180-degree conduction angle.

Circuit Diagram Class-G vs Class-D Variations References Introduction Firstly, there is some dissent as to what constitutes Class-G compared to Class-H. I have explained the difference as I see it below, but there are many amps that claim to be Class-H that I consider to be Class-G.

Class C Bias. In Class C, the bias point is placed well below cut-off as shown in Fig.5.6.1 and so the transistor is cut-off for most of the cycle of the wave. This gives much improved efficiency to the amplifier, but very heavy distortion of the output signal. Class C is therefore not suitable for audio amplifiers.

[1] Power amplifier classes Power amplifier circuits (output stages) are classified as A, B, AB and C for linear designs—and class D and E for switching designs. The classes are generally based on the proportion of each input cycle (conduction angle) during which an amplifying device passes current. [2]

Class H Amplifier Circuit Diagram How To Build A Class D Power Amp

In class H amplifiers, the supply voltage is multilevel. Especially for applications that require high voltage power, so that the supply voltage is efficient, there are 2 or 3 different pairs. For example, there is a supply voltage of +/- 154 volts, +/- 77 volts and +/- 12volt.

The answer is unfortunately yes. The downside is called crossover distortion… Figure 2—Class-B amplifiers are usually built around a pair of complementary transistors (at left).

In your circuit the "take lower E" switching limit is V=34V. In class H amplifiers E is taken from a varying output switch mode power supply which tries to stay a little higher than the needed V. The smaller is the difference E-V the lower are the losses in the transistor between E and the load.

Definition Class H amplifiers modulate the supply voltage to the amplifier output devices so that it is never higher than necessary to support the signal swing. This reduces dissipation across the output devices connected to that supply and allows the amplifier to operate with an optimized class AB efficiency regardless of output power level.

The circuit diagram of the 2000W class AB power amplifier uses 7 pairs of MJ15003 and MJ15004 transistors for the final amplification block. The circuit operated with 90V DC symmetrical (dual polarity) power supply circuit. The transistors must be mounted on the heatsink to prevent overheating, maintain the transistor's work in maximum performance.
